Tired of tired-looking skin? While nothing beats drinking lots of water and good ol’ fashioned R&R (we don’t get nearly enough of those), this cream of the crop comes pretty darn close. Dry skin is one of the main causes for the signs of ageing to show up before their time – although showing up never would be great – and can make us look a lot older than we’re feeling. Think of your skin like a fresh grape. When it’s full of water and moisture, it’s plump, juicy and smooth(er). When your skin is dry, thirsty and parched, it loses volume and it’s a bit more like a raisin with lines and wrinkles.
Designed with dependable ingredients to ditch dryness, dullness and dehydration. We use highly nourishing Aloe Vera blended with 5 natural, soothing oils rich with fatty acids for hyper hydration, skin regeneration and protection from daily damage. The oils we use are selected because they’re lightweight, non-comedogenic, highly absorbent and perfect for all skin types, including the most MOO-diest. We added doses of Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide to revive, refresh, renew and replenish (that’s a lot of R’s) skin, and help retain (oops, one more) as much moisture as possible. With all that going on, we still saved room for some Ceramides. Just in case your life has been influencer and social media-free for the last 12 months and you don’t know what Ceramides are, here is a quick explanation. Ceramides are fats (lipids) that exist in high concentrations in the skin and help hold it together. They assist in preventing water loss and protecting the skin barrier from irritants. Over time, things like sun damage, environmental factors and natural ageing can deplete Ceramide levels in the skin, weakening the skin barrier which causes skin to become drier more easily and that’s when the sneaky signs of ageing start showing up. Topping up Ceramide levels rebuilds skin strength which helps keep more moisture in and smooths out those finicky fine lines.
So, we made this cream with moisture in mind, by providing it and retaining it, which in our opinion is your best defence against ageing. A lovely, light cream that slides on like silk and sits well under makeup (if you’re into that kind of thing) to provide a dewy base. Free from SPF for the days you don’t need it and a big glass of water to quench thirsty skin after exposure to air conditioning or space heaters that can suck your skin dry. No matter what your age in calendar years, or how many smile lines you have to show, part of taking good care of your skin means keeping it moisturised, so that’s why we herded all the hydration heavy hitters into this one crafty cream.
Aqua (H₂O’s Fancy Name), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Glucoside (And) Cetearyl Alcohol, Niacinamide, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Squalane (Olive), Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Glycerin, Ceramides, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, P-Anisic Acid (Anise Derived Preservative), Glyceryl Caprylate, Hyaluronic Acid, Anthemis Nobilis Flower (Chamomile Roman) Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin) Peel Oil, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract.
Because we make our products for our families, we have a strict ingredient philosophy that excludes ingredients like Parabens and Phenoxyethanol.
We show all of the ingredients we use in our products on our website, not just the pretty ones. That way you know exactly what's in each one, and can get in touch if you have any more questions.
Please be aware that the ingredients we use in our formulas may be updated occasionally and therefore vary from time to time. Please refer to the ingredient list on the product packaging for the most up-to-date and relevant list of ingredients.
What type of skin is the Hydrating Renewal Face Cream best for?
This cream is made for anyone and everyone with some form of dry skin. Dry skin is one of the main causes for the signs of ageing to start showing up. It’s a lovely, light cream that goes well under makeup to provide a dewy base. Free from SPF for the days you don’t need it, plus it feels like a big glass of water for thirsty skin after exposure to air conditioning that can suck your skin dry. No matter what your age, part of taking good care of your skin means keeping it moisturised, so we herded some hydration heavy hitters into this one. The mix of soothing ingredients and non-comedogenic oils makes this perfect for all skin types, including very sensitive and blemish-prone skin. We think you will also love the inclusion of Ceramides to strengthen the barrier and prevent water loss, and heroic Hyaluronic Acid to retain moisture and refresh and replenish the skin.
What are Ceramides, and how are they beneficial?
Ceramides are fats (lipids) that exist in high concentrations in the skin, and they assist in retaining water and protecting the skin barrier from irritants. Over time, factors like sun damage, aging and other irritants can decrease Ceramide content in the skin. The skin barrier is more susceptible to weakening when Ceramides are depleted, causing the skin to become drier, more easily irritated and show signs of ageing. By topping up Ceramide levels, skin strength and skin barrier function improves. They also work wonders to help skin maintain moisture, your best defence against ageing.
What type of Ceramides do you use?
We use Ceramides 3 and 3B as they are the types that are most similar to the skin. Ceramide 3 is a skin-identical barrier lipid that works to strengthen the skin’s barrier function. Essentially, as they are identical molecules to the ones found in our skin, they are easily absorbed, and you’ll receive long-term protection and support.
What percentage of Niacinamide is in this formula?
We include 3% Niacinamide in our formula because we love its many benefits. Niacinamide is great for so many things like the ability to decrease water loss from the skin, soothe inflammation, ease redness and reduce the appearance of pores, just to name a few!
What other products do you recommend to address dryness?
In addition to fine lines and wrinkles, dry skin can also make the skin look older and less vibrant. While our products work well on their own, we think they work best together. Teamwork makes the dream work! To target dryness most effectively, we recommend using this moisturiser in conjunction with a hydrating serum like our Hyaluronic Acid (2%), Niacinamide (10%) Active Serum and/or face oil like our Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil so they can work together synergistically. We also recommend cleansing your skin with something gentle and hydrating like our Creamy Hydrating Face Cleanser or our Nourishing Deep Pore Oil Cleanser. An overbearing cleanser can exacerbate dryness, and cause itchiness, tightness and irritation! Stripping the skin of its natural oils just leaves it dreadfully dry, damaged and distressed. The sebum in our skin (natural oils that it makes) helps keep it moisturised, but if it's constantly washed away, your skin could kick into oil-making overdrive which can cause all sorts of problems, including unwanted breakouts. We skip on harsh ingredients like SLS that foam up well but are also found in things like floor cleaning products – our face says no thanks!
My cream isn't white. Does this mean it has gone bad?
You may notice that your cream isn’t bright white or changes colour slightly over time. This is because we use natural ingredients which are often rich in colour and can change the colour of a cream after it's mixed in. Although people generally expect a cream to always be white, we choose not to use any bleaching ingredients to keep them white. So, don’t be surprised if your cream changes colour over time, it's not a bad thing and is perfectly fine to use (always check expiry dates)! The colour of your cream may also vary slightly from tube to tube, or bottle to bottle.
Are your moisturisers made of milk?
We aren’t called MooGoo because our moisturisers are made of milk. If you think about it, putting any meaningful amount of fresh milk into a cream and putting it on a shelf in a store for a while would not end well – yuck!
How do antioxidants work?
One part of skin ageing is caused by free radical damage. Free radicals are molecules that have become short of an electron. To become stable again, free radicals seek out other molecules and can take an electron from them. This causes cell damage leading to skin ageing, among other things. Supplying antioxidants to the skin helps mop up these pesky free radicals so they leave your cells alone. But it’s important to ensure that the antioxidants are still fresh and effective by the time they meet your skin and get deep enough into the skin to do their good work. That’s why we choose only to use ingredients that are stable as unstable forms can oxidise rendering their good properties null and void. We also use quality ingredients that are well-known to be beneficial to and compatible with human skin and are also paired with an effective delivery system to make sure they get into the skin where they need to be.
Why is there a hole under my 75g moisturiser bottle?
Our 75g pump top bottles are airless pumps which means they do not have a straw to supply the product to the pump top. Instead, there is a disc inside the bottle that pushes the product upwards to the top with every pump. The hole on the bottom allows air in so the disc can continue to move up as the product is dispensed, which is not possible without the hole on the bottom of the bottle.
Why does my bottle no longer have a straw?
For a better user experience, and to get the absolute most of your MooGoo ‘goo-dness out of the bottle, we’ve taken on our customer feedback and have launched a new and improved Airless pump bottle for our 75g Face Creams range, and Argireline® Serum. On first use, make sure the product top is on tight and keep pumping until you get product. So, what actually is an airless pump bottle? Unlike jars and bottles with an internal straw, an airless pump bottle works on a vacuum. As you pump the product, a disk at the bottom of the bottle slowly moves up (the vacuum effect) allowing the cream to stay in contact with the mechanism ‘airless’. If you have any further troubles, please contact our friendly customer service team for assistance.
