Why is Milk Shampoo great for sensitive scalps?

Got an itchy, sensitive or fussy scalp? You’re not alone and our Milk Shampoo is here to help. It’s packed with gentle, effective ingredients like Piroctone Olamine and Allantoin to help calm irritation and support your scalp’s microflora (aka the good bacteria party happening up top). A blend of 5 Coconut and Glucose-based cleansers do the clean-up without stripping and irritating, for scalps prone to Dandruff, Eczema, Psoriasis or Dermatitis.

Are your products made of milk?

Nope, no fresh milk here! While the name’s inspired by our first product (which was a cream made for cow udders – really!), we don’t pour milk into bottles. What we do use is Milk Protein from a credible Aussie supplier. It’s been shown to help protect and condition hair, giving it strength and bounce without weighing it down. So your hair gets the benefits of milk, without going off on the shelf.

What does "Dermatologically Tested" mean?

You may have seen the term “Dermatologically Tested” on lots of products before, but did you know there’s not an actual definition or regulation for this term? Because that didn’t sit right with us, and because our aim is to make products for people with really sensitive skin, we decided to send a bunch of them off to be tested in an independent lab on 54 people who reported having sensitive skin. The results were given on a scale of 0 to 5 with 0 being no irritation or redness and 5 being a reaction. We’re happy to report that other than one person who had a reaction to the adhesive on the patch and another who found the patches painful to remove, all subjects reported 0 for redness and irritation for all the products we sent for testing. Are these products colour-safe?

Short answer: Yes!

Long answer: Our Hair & Scalp Care Range is SLS-free, SLES-free and pH-balanced, meaning it's not alkaline (which is what can open up your hair cuticle and wash colour down the drain). We won't slap a "colour-lock" label on it, but the formulas are designed to help keep your hair colour from fading.

Hair colour "stripping" usually comes down to harsh cleansing agents, a high alkaline pH and water! Unfortunately, water is the biggest culprit of all. Simply washing your hair will inevitably fade colour over time, as it dissolves and washes away dye molecules from inside your hair strands.

'Fragrance' is listed as one of the ingredients in this product. What does this mean?

Fair question, especially if you have sensitive skin. We used to use essential oils for fragrance, but even small amounts can cause big reactions for some. So we created a special kind of fragrant oil, where every component below the EU allergy threshold. That means no nasties, no phthalates and no more itchy scalps from a whiff of shampoo. Just a fresh scent that’s safe for sensitive skin.

Does your Phthalate-free Oatmeal fragrance contain gluten?

Nope! There is no actual oatmeal in our Phthalate-free Oatmeal fragrance, so there is no gluten either.

Can I use the conditioner on kids or during pregnancy?

Absolutely. Our Cream Conditioner and Protein Shot Leave-In Conditioner is made with gentle, skin-friendly ingredients - free from Silicones, harsh chemicals and artificial fragrances. It’s safe for use on kids, during pregnancy and even for bub’s first curls.

How does dry shampoo work?

Dry Shampoo powders do their job by absorbing the oils your scalp produces to prolong the time needed between wet washes. This means you get to save time, money and the environment by spending less time in the shower (woohoo!). While using a dry shampoo powder in between wet washes, we predict you’ll wash your hair half as much as you used to. Not to mention the endless hours some of us spend drying and styling our hair.

Is this suitable for Keratin-treated hair?

Yes! All of our Hair & Scalp Care products are free from SLS, SLES and Sodium Chloride. This is important for Keratin-treated hair, as strong Sulphate surfactants can strip the hair more aggressively and shorten the life of smoothing treatments.

Since we don't use these ingredients, our formulas can help protect your results for longer.
